In 2016 I began the journey to obtain a postgraduate degree in Cultural Studies. Part of the requirements included producing a body of work based on my research.

As a mother and an artist always caught in the struggle of trying to maintain a balance it was a natural topic for me to explore and after researching and interviewing fellow mother artists I realized my experiences were not unique and that everyone had their own way of dealing with their challenges.

This exhibition was aptly entitled Nurturing the Outside Child as art is so often called a child and references, through 5 portraits as well as two series of fragments, experiences faced by mother artists "art herstory".
