Tessa Alexander
Tessa Alexander has a degree in Fashion Design and an MA in Cultural Studies. She is visual artist, art educator and part time lecturer at the University of the West Indies (UWI) who lives in Trinidad and Tobago. Her work can be found in collections in the Caribbean, India, Kenya where she has exhibited as well as the US, Canada, the UK and Europe.
Tessa is drawn to imagery depicting aspects of daily life that are mundane or taken for granted, as those to her represent the sublime of human condition, and uses this imagery to explore social and cultural issues not immediately apparent as her work usually has a double context. Her chosen medium while not exclusively, is watercolour as the colour, and textures she can produce capture the Caribbean essence as is suitable to tropical conditions as it is fluid and quick drying.
